This is a versatile recipe that is very easy to make. Also known as the classic Zulian patacon, plantain sandwich originates from Venezuela, Zulia precisely. The crispy plantain pieces are filled with beef, turkey or chicken. Using green plane, corn oil, salt oregano and garlic powder, and hand cheese, lettuce, tomato, green sauce, ketchup and mustard for fillings, you get your fully Zulian plantain sandwich.
4. Plantain Lasagna
Yeah Yeah! plantain lasagna, called pastelon in Puerto Rico. Preparing it is quite similar to the conventional lasagna, but with plantains instead of pasta. Basically, vegetables are used as fillings, it can also be prepared with white rice, green salad or spring rice. The plantain is fried until golden brown on both sides.
5. Plantain hamburger
Quite delicious if you ask me. It’s simple to cook actually. Ingredients for plantain hamburger include green bananas, ground beef, sliced green tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup, lemon, canola oil, pepper, and cheese. These hamburgers are usually sold at plantain stalls in some cities in Colombia.
6. Ripe Plantain Fritters
All the way from Colombia, you can plantain fritters in your hands anytime you want it. This delicious dish can be prepared in many ways. You can decide to add some guava paste between the plantains to go with the cheese.
