– What are the underlying causes of muscle strain?
– How to go about the treatment of muscle strain.
In the human body, the muscle is a form of tissue that is contractible in nature. Muscle strain can happen to anyone, regardless of the age.
Sprains and strains are very common injuries that affect muscles and ligaments. Everyone experiences either of the two at one time of their life or the other.
When one is doing an activity or a task, one can experience muscle strain or sprain. They often occur when playing sports, when doing exercise, when one falls, when a collision occurs or when an injury that affects the muscle occurs.
A muscle strain occurs when one or more ligaments have been stretched, twisted or torn. This often occurs as a result of the excessive force that one exerts on a joint.
A muscle strain also occurs when muscle fibers tear or stretch. When you use or stretch the muscle beyong its limit, a strain will occur.
Muscle strain and sprain can occur to any part of the body including the knees, legs, lower back, ankles, wrists and thumbs.
There are some signs that will make you know that a strain or sprain has occured. The symptoms of muscle strain and sprain include the following;
- Tenderness in the area.
- Pain and swelling of the affected part.
- Redness of the area can also occured.
- Difficulty in using the area that the sprain affects.
- Also, bruising may occur and this can in turn lead to bleeding.
- Muscle spasms can also occur.
Strenous activities, excess force on the muscle, stress and over using the body can cause the sprain and strain. Also, it can either be mild or severe and a severe muscle strain can result in a muscle tear.
When a muscle tear occurs, it can cause a damage to the blood vessels. Therefore, there is the need to take care of it.
