Many fruits have a tough exterior skin that you don’t eat, keeping the bacteria out of your body, but if the skin is broken, that same bacteria easily penetrates the fruit.
In this context, the intake of any fruit’s skin automatically increases your chance of ingesting bacteria.
Fruits with softer skin such as strawberries and grapes, apples, peaches and tomatoes provide a perfect host for many disease-carrying bacteria.
Since most fruits does not require or undergo the heating and cooking process, they are commonly consumed raw, knowing well that cooking or boiling alone can kill bacteria and is more prone to causing illness.
Whereas, rainsing or washing fruits reduces the risk of getting sick. Although washing doesn’t always remove all the bacteria, but prevents alot of unseen things.
