Pregnancy for every woman is a delicate condition that comes with its peculiarities. A pregnant woman is a totally different person from who she was when she was not yet pregnant.
Changes begin to occur in the body and system when a woman is pregnant. She begins to have allergies to things she loves on a normal day.
She starts to act edgy, she begins to select types and categories of food to eat and what to drink, among others.
Pregnancy is a time when toxin avoidance is highly essential since the developing fetus is highly susceptible to the effects of common chemicals.
Certain chemicals and toxin are capable of causing abnormal development in the fetus. They can also hinder the adequate development of the unborn child.
If you are a pregnant woman, or your wife or sister is pregnant, here are some chemicals she needs to avoid;
1. Phthalates
These are also kinds of substances that are used to increase flexibility, the plasticity of plastics. The also enhance the effectiveness of other chemicals in products such as; detergents, perfume, nail polish, surfactants, etc.
Pregnant women should avoid phthalates because it has the potential of increasing health risks like high blood pressure, diabetes, ADHD, breast cancer, etc.
2. Hydroquinone
This is also a skin lightening agent that pregnant women should avoid. When hydroquinone is absorbed into the skin, if can affect the skin health, especially when pregnant.
3. Aluminum chloride hexahydrate
This chemical is mostly found in antiperspirant, pregnant women should avoid it.
4. Retinoids or Retinol
Researchers have it that the use of retinoids has a link to an increased risk of birth defects for the fetus. It is advisable not to use this medication when pregnant.
We can find retinoids or retinol as Retin- A, retinoic acid, retinyl palmitate, retinaldehyde, adapalene, tretinoin, tazarotene, and isotretinoin.
5. Formaldehyde
This is also another substance that should be avoided by pregnant women. We can find it in products such as; personal care products, nail polish, eyelash glue etc.
