Zlatan Ibrahimovic On Road To Rio Olympics
Sweden Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been confirmed in Sweden provisional squad for 2016 Rio Olympics.
The former PSG striker is presently representing his country at Euro 2016 and he’s expected to make the decision as to whether he will represent Sweden at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Sweden Under-21 coach Hakan Ericson has said he is hopeful the 34-year old will make the squad though it seems unlike as the Euro 2016 might affect his decision.
“He has said he wants to wait to make his decision until after the European Championships,” Ericson, who is taking charge of the Olympics squad, said.
“There is a little gap and I want to keep it open because it would be fantastic, although my hopes are not huge. But we have hope.”
Ibrahimovic is one of seven over-23 players, only three of which will be eligible for the Games, named in Sweden’s preliminary squad, which will be cut to 18 players.
It remains to be seen what Ibrahimovic’s decision will be as it looks as if it depends on the stage at which Sweden get to at the ongoing Euros in France.
